The True/Lost Meaning of Namaste 🙏🏾

Updated: Feb 22

Amid the endless debates over the true meaning of Namaste, the conversation often spirals into questions of cultural ownership and appropriation. Is it a religious term? Should a white woman from Essex begin her yoga class or chakra cleansing workshop with it? Where is the boundary between genuine respect and unintentional appropriation? These discussions, while important, frequently overlook something deeper—the essence of Namaste itself. Beyond semantics and social divides, Namaste holds a meaning so profound that it has the power to bridge these opposing viewpoints.

At its heart ❤️, it is a recognition of shared humanity, a gesture of humility and connection that transcends cultures, inviting unity rather than division. Perhaps, instead of arguing over who has the right to say it, we should focus on living its true spirit.
