Paul Allen is a senior Yoga teacher registered with the Yoga Alliance UK.

 

Paul has 12 years background, which initially began with Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Other journeys followed by Paul led him to Iyengar Yoga, Shivananda Yoga, Baptiste Yoga, Jiva Mukti and the restorative practice of Yin Yoga.


Over the years, Paul's practice has taken elements from all these styles and continues to evolve. 


Paul's Yoga Mantra states, "You listen to the body, You practice accordingly and then you pass on the magic".

The self-study portion of the course complements the in-person sessions. Comprised of thought-provoking essays and insightful "reflections", this course segment prompts you to contemplate your learnings from each weekend and how these will inform your teaching style.

 

You'll maintain a homework diary and upload entries to shared folders for your tutors to review and provide feedback, ensuring your learning journey is continuous and progressive.

Anatomy & Physiology

A TYPICAL DAY

Yoga Teacher Training Day Breakdown:

Morning Session:

- Start of the day: 08:30
- Location: Upstairs studio
- Focus: Theory-based sessions covering various modules outlined in the prospectus
- Topics covered: For example, the morning session begins with an in-depth exploration of the nervous system and its significance in yoga practice. We delve into the intricate workings of the nervous system, examining how it influences our movements, breath, and overall well-being during yoga sessions.
- Practical application: Through interactive discussions and exercises, we explore how understanding the nervous system (for example) enhances our ability to create safe and effective yoga sequences. We delve into the connections between the nervous system and essential aspects of yoga, including alignment, breathwork, and relaxation techniques.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


 

Breaks: We provide two breaks during the morning sessions, each lasting approximately 15 minutes. These breaks offer an opportunity to recharge, make a cup of coffee, and enjoy some biscuits in our office (both provided). It's also a chance to stretch your legs and rejuvenate before diving back in.
 

Lunch Break:

Time: 12:30-13:00


Facilities: Our training facility includes a convenient fridge and microwave on-site, allowing you to bring your own lunch and store it if needed. You can also enjoy your lunch within the building. If you prefer to explore other options, there are plenty of choices available just a few hundred yards away. Tesco, as well as various coffee shops and eateries, provide a range of dining possibilities to suit different tastes and preferences.
 

Afternoon Session:

- Start: 13:00-16:00
- Location: Main downstairs studio
- Focus: Practical-based activities
- Applying knowledge: The afternoon sessions primarily focus on practical applications. We take the concepts and theories covered in the morning session and apply them practically. For instance, we explore functional anatomy by actively performing the poses outlined in your manuals. By doing so, we gain a deeper understanding of how our bodies interact with gravity, the optimal way to breathe (as there is no strictly right or wrong way), and how to ensure our intentions align with our body's responses in each pose. This comprehensive breakdown and explanation will be provided in great detail.
