"Once you really understand breathing, in terms of science and real yoga tradition, you’ll never practice the same way again."
zahir akram - tutor, exercise physiologist & OM yoga teacher of Year 2024

Dear Yogi
Most students flow, move, and create shapes. And that holds genuine value.
But something is missing. The layer that separates a physical practice from a complete one.
That missing piece is your breath. Not the automatic breathing that keeps you alive, but deliberate, conscious breathing, understood from both a scientific and traditional perspective.
This mini-course exists to give you that layer. In under an hour.
Breathing better has completely transformed my own blood work. I do not merely teach it; I live it.

"I’ve taken 3 breath courses before… this was the first one that actually made sense and speaks normal language"
- Sonya, GP & Yoga Teacher

What This Course Covers
Five persistent myths that hold most yoga students back, and what the science and tradition actually say instead.

This free mini-course dispels 5 persistent myths that hold most yoga students back:
❌ Ujjayi is the only valid way to breathe in yoga
❌ Breath holds are inherently dangerous
❌ CO₂ is merely waste to exhale
❌ Belly breathing is always the correct choice
❌ Inhale to lift, exhale to fold - every single time
Then we go deeper. You will explore where ancient pranayama and modern neuroscience converge, and walk away with evidence-based tools to deepen your practice and, when you are ready, teach with genuine authority.
This course exists because breathing is the one thing in yoga that's both completely ancient and completely proven by science and somehow nobody is teaching both at the same time. That always struck me as wrong.
So I fixed it." - Zahir Akram
MORE ABOUT YOUR TUTOR
I’m Zahir - dad, husband, yoga teacher, and forever seeker.
Om Yoga Magazine - Yoga Teacher of the Year 2024

I’ve dedicated half my life to understanding what makes us who - and what - we are.
My studies have taken me from anatomy to philosophy - from the ancient Greeks, who first dissected the human body, to the yogis who remind us that we are not the body at all. That journey has carried me from my parents’ birthplace in Kashmir, through the bustling streets of Calcutta, to the quiet, expansive landscapes of Nepal.
Along the way, I’ve broken things down (quite literally) from the mechanics of breathing to the complex, often misunderstood nature of the human skeleton.
I’ve studied anatomy and movement for over 25 years, working as a Personal Trainer throughout that time. My education includes the National Academy of Sports Medicine, the London School of Osteopathy, and years of experience as a senior yoga teacher, studio owner, and exercise physiologist.
What drives my work is translating complicated science into something practical and usable. You’ll see that reflected in my teaching, and in my Instagram and YouTube content, where anatomy is explored through movement rather than memorisation.
My aim is simple: to help you understand anatomy in a way that gives you clarity, confidence, and trust in your own teaching - so you’re no longer guessing, copying cues, or doubting yourself in front of students.
That is my promise to you.
