WHY DO YOGA DURING PREGNANCY?
Yoga is an ancient holistic practice which combines physical movement, breathing and contemplation. The word ‘Yoga’, or more specifically the root word ‘Yuj’, literally means to join or to unite. And what greater manifestation of union is there than the creation of new human life! From the initial union of male and female gametes (sex cells) to the co-existence of one human body within another for nine months. It is truly miraculous. But it can also be a very challenging time, both physically and emotionally.
As yoga works on many layers of our being, it can support us on many levels throughout the pregnancy rollercoaster, from the physical; mobilising and stabilising the body, to the mental and emotional; empowering and igniting ‘shakti’ or feminine energy. Yoga provides a valuable ‘toolkit’ from which YOU choose what YOU need. Each pelvis, person and pregnancy is unique and so too should your yoga practice be!
5- WEEK COURSE - £60
Our goal is to inform and empower you to develop a personal yoga practice that serves you and your individual needs. We provide a supportive and nurturing environment in which you will learn a multitude of techniques to assist you throughout pregnancy and beyond.
Q - I've never done yoga before can I still join?
A - Yes!! Absolutely, the class requires no prior yoga experience. It is a gentle and nurturing class designed to support you through breath, movement and above all, relaxation.
Q - Can I join if I am in my first trimester?
A - I would generally recommend waiting until after your 12 week scan however if you really want to attend and have discussed with your GP, please speak to me directly and before booking.
Q - I am not very flexible, can I still join?
A - I'll pretend I didn't hear that and see you online!!!
Q - Do I have to attend all 5 sessions?
A - No but unfortunately no partial refund can be given for dates missed as you will be taking up a course place. It is structured in this way to most effectively support you and keep you safe during practice as the techniques, themes and poses build week on week. I feel this structure allows you to get the most out of it, rather than a drop in system.
Q - Is it a full 1 hour of yoga poses?
A - The sessions combine poses, philosophy, breathing and relaxation thereby supporting you and your pregnancy in a holistic manner.
Q - What should I wear?
A - Something comfortable. Work out clothes, leggings and a comfortable t shit or vest.
Q - Should I need to have anything with me?
A - Please have a blanket. You may also want to have some water with you.
