What You Will Learn
Science made Simplistic
Human Variation
Understanding the evolution of the body helps us respect variation instead of forcing uniformity. There is no single way to do a pose — only personal history showing up in physical form.
Rethinking Anatomy
What drives our movement — force or structure? By taking an intricate look at our bones and their shapes, we start to see that our structure determines our range and depth. And as a caveat: are all skeletons the same?
Complications
How should the pelvis sit in seated poses? Anterior? Posterior? Does it matter? The answer is yes — but it’s complicated. Through videos and visuals, we explore how each pelvis tells its own story.
Yoga Pose Myths
Do you understand the anatomy behind your cues? This isn’t to challenge your knowledge — it’s to make you curious. Some teachers have admitted that their best-loved cue has caused the most harm. In this CPD, we demystify yoga poses and debunk myths as we go.
The Base
Starting with the feet, we go back to basics. What do I mean by “use your feet — don’t just stand on them”? What role do feet play in long-term physical health? And are your shoes too tight? Through videos and visuals, we break down the foot so we can better appreciate this miracle of architecture.
Sequence
Can you design the perfect anatomical sequence? A class where all the major joints are taken through their paces, leaving students feeling optimally "stretched"? What would that sequence look like?
Student Testimonials
What our students say about us
I never thought I’d say this about an anatomy course, but it actually changed how I feel when I teach. pport them, not just shape them.”
Maria S.
“This course filled all the gaps I didn’t realise existed. I used to repeat cues I’d learned in training. Now I understand what’s happening under the skin"
James T.
"This course showed me how anatomy isn’t about perfection—it’s about patterns, purpose, and people. It gave me tools to make yoga more inclusive, more informed, and more powerful.”
Amina K.

Who is this CPD for?
This training is for yoga teachers who want to go beyond generic anatomy — and actually understand how bodies move.
You don’t need to be a physio. Just curious.
Maybe you're tired of saying “drop your shoulders” without knowing if it's helpful…
Maybe you've watched students struggle in poses that are supposed to feel good…
Or maybe you’ve sensed your own understanding of movement needs updating.
You might be:
- A yoga teacher ready to see poses through the lens of real biomechanics
- A PT, coach or therapist who wants more nuance in joint and fascia knowledge
- Someone rebuilding confidence after injury or burnout
- Or just someone who wants to teach in a way that honours human variation and long-term function
Wherever you are in your journey, this CPD offers clarity — not dogma.
About Me
👤 Meet your teacher - Zahir Akram
Hi, I’m Zahir - owner of Akram Yoga Studio and a real teacher at heart. I love sharing science in a way that is really simplistic and accessible to all.
Over the years, I’ve taught in gyms, retreats, and packed studios. But what I really teach — is how to think. How to ask better questions. How to become a teacher that’s both curious and authentic.
In 2024, I was honoured to be named Favourite Yoga Teacher by Om Yoga Magazine. Our studio — Akram Yoga — was also voted Yoga Studio of the Year.
If you’re looking for someone who’ll teach you with humour, honesty, and real depth — not dogma — I think we’ll get on.
I absolutely LOVE what I do. That will be evident more and more as you make your way around the website, my BLOG page, our Youtube Channel and even my BOOK, 'Yoga, Madness or Medittaion?' - available on Amazon.
You really couldn't be in safer hands 🙏🏽

"These courses are truly a lifetime’s work, and I'm so grateful to have a platform to share everything I've learned over the years with you. My goal is for you to walk away feeling more confident in your understanding—not only so you can teach with assurance but also to empower you to be yourself and to question conventional yoga wisdom. Too often, this wisdom, even with the best intentions, causes more harm than good. I hope you can use what I teach to continue sharing the magic, helping others evolve and heal, just as yoga has done for me—and for you."

When you teach Yoga — are you still teaching as if every body is the same?

— no strings.

I’ve dedicated half my life to understanding what makes us who and what we are. My studies have taken me from anatomy to philosophy—from the Greeks, who first dissected the human body, to the yogis who say we are not the body. This journey has led me from my parents' birthplace in Kashmir, to the bustling streets of Calcutta, and the serene landscapes of Nepal. I’ve broken down and dissected everything, from the mechanics of breathing to the intricacies of Bandhas.
I’ve had a complex relationship with yoga. I’ve loved it, critiqued it, fallen out of love with it, had enough of it—and yet, I keep coming back. My understanding of yoga isn’t just a collection of other people’s words or theories. It’s a tapestry woven from my own experiences, filled with moments of doubt, rediscovery, and personal growth.
Yoga has given me the strength to forge my own path, and that’s exactly what I hope to share with you. As the Sufis say, “In a conflict between the heart and the brain, follow your heart.” This course isn’t about rigid rules or seeking absolute truths. It’s about finding what feels true and right for you, with a heart-centered approach to learning.
